BD Medical; Warehouse Extension

This warehouse extension consisted of the construction of new warehousing space connected to the existing Warehouse Building at BD Medical, Pottery Road, Dun Laoghaire. The facility consists of warehousing space, dock levellers for the product shipping and distribution process and associated services. M+E value was €300,000.

Challenges

Review and analysis of existing services capacities within the facility for extension to the new warehousing space. Tie in points for services extension to the new warehousing space and associated coordination with critical 24 hour facilities operations.

Successes

Project completed to a very high standard, within the M&E budgets and to the specific requirements of the Client. Additional space successfully serviced from existing facilities central plant and infrastructure without disruption to critical operations.

Design

• Metec provided New distribution boards and submain cable which was designed as per the clients electrical requirements
• A highly cost effective and environmentally friendly emergency lighting system based on LED technology. this system requires low maintenance with a considerable reduction in charges.
• The security systems designed included internal and external CCTV, access control and fire alarm system which all had to be integrated into the existing
• Lighting design consisted of energy efficient high bay luminaires complete with integral passive infrared detection.
• Provision of space heating via LPHW unit heaters and de-stratification fans connected to the facilities central LPHW distribution system.
• Provision of compressed air services for the shipping and distribution process connected to the facilities central compressed air distribution system.
• Water services installation for staff drinking water facility.
• Provision of protective services Sprinkler and Fire Extinguisher installation.
• Extension of the existing BMS system for control and monitoring of the new warehousing space.
