UCD Lecture Theatre

This project consisted of a 118 seat Smurfit Theatre refurbishment in the existing Smurfit Business School main building.

Challenges

The challenge on this project was to incorporate a ventilation system c/w air handling plant within a listed building to serve the lecture theatre.

SUCCESSES

The success of this project was as a result of close collaboration and co-ordination with the conservation architect to provide discreet mechanically ventilated space with modern Audio visual aids c/w remote learning facilities within a listed structure.

Metec Solutions

Metec Consulting Engineers designed a mechanical ventilation system where the air handling plant was located in the void below the tiered seating, and a low velocity displacement ventilation system was employed under the seating with the return air path at high level within the space.
