The challenge we faced in this building was to turn an existing CAT A installation into a grade A best in class office for our client. The client set a clear brief that the building must achieve a LEED gold rating and to be fully designed and co-ordinated in Revit. This was a particular challenge as the existing CAT A installations were not designed in Revit so Metec designed the full existing installations from scratch. The project was carried out over a number of aggressive programme phases so the completion of the MDF/IDF network in line with the early handover dates was essential. The introduction of a full catering and restaurant facility was a challenge in terms of the service routes through an existing core. Strict adherence to client corporate guidelines was also a key challenge as part of the design process.
The interior fit out was successfully certified to LEED Gold standard – with Metec as LEED AP. The design was fully co-ordinated in Revit which allowed the contractor to minimise their onsite construction co-ordination time and therefore meet the clients phased programme requirements. The project met all its key delivery dates from MDF/IDF handover right through to the last phase practical completion.
