Wicklow Primary Care

This project, located on the outskirts of Wicklow Town, which was completed in 2014 consisting of 65,379sq.ft brought one of the largest Primary Healthcare Centres in the Country at the time, to County Wicklow in a new specially designed building.

Challenges

Combining the requirements of meeting the HSE standards with the architectural & structural design of the building. The quantity of structural beams required a high level of design coordination.

Successes

Following a very high level of testing the project was handed over on time to the HSE requirements. Such was its success that a second building is due to start construction in 2023 to meet HSE demand.

By working closely on site with the M&E contractors we were able to provide a workable solution to ensure a high quality installation was provided.

Mechanical & Electrical Services

• The mechanical and electrical engineering services for this new building comprises of a centrally located gas fired system to cater for the entire building, air conditioning system, mechanical ventilation, water services, electrical distribution system, lift installation, data and communications installations, lighting installation, general power, fire alarm system etc.

• For the duration of the project Metec Consulting Engineers acted in a Resident Engineer Role for the developer carrying out on site re-views, checking and liaising with the Mechanical & Electrical Sub-Contractors

• Metec Consulting Engineers compiled a comprehensive snag list of the Building Services Installation c/w photographic evidence following each site inspection and also carried out an assessment of the final Mechanical, Electrical & Lift Safety file to ensure that the relevant as-Installed drawings, Systems warranties, Maintenance procedures & Certification were included.
