James Murphy

Associate of Metec & CAD Manager

I started my career as a CAD Technician with Keaveny Engineering in their Bray office in 2002, before joining the team at Metec in 2011. I became CAD Manager and an associate in 2019 and, over the last four years, have grown the CAD team to seven people. Our aim is to produce drawings of the highest quality for all projects, essential in our industry, and my top priority since day one at Metec.

From my personal point of view, it has been a source of great satisfaction developing the working relationship we have with Primark, designing their premises in The Netherlands, France, Belgium, Germany and Romania. I have also worked on projects at Metec including The Beckett Building, East Wall Facebook, Cumberland House (Twitter HQ), Rugby Experience (Limerick), and the Amazon office fitout.

Who am I?

Originally from Bray, I now live in Greystones with my wife, Sarah Jane, and our two children. I’m a big sports fan. I’ve been playing football since I was very young and supporting Manchester Utd for nearly 30 years. I took up lawn bowls when I was 19, following in my dad’s footsteps as I went on to win numerous titles and represent my country at international level winning 21 caps. I am a lover of abstract artwork and have been known to enjoy the odd trip to Electric Picnic.
