Before joining Metec, I worked in the entertainment industry for 25years. I started as a sales assistant in a music shop, and quickly moved up the ranks and eventually moved to the supply side of the business becoming DVD sales manager for Sony Music in 2006. From there, I had various sales/category manager roles and have worked with some of the biggest names in the industry such as Disney, Universal Pictures, Warner Home Video, Paramount and Dreamworks, to name but a few.
With the changing market, I decided to embark on a new career by trying my hand at CAD after studying it for 2 years after I left school way back in 1990. I joined Metec as an AutoCAD Technician in 2018 and have not looked back since.
“While I have great stories to tell from my entertainment industry days, within a few months at Metec, I’d truly regret not embarking on an engineering career at an earlier stage as I find the work interesting, engaging and extremely rewarding”.
I have recently finished the 3 year DT078 Electrical Services Engineering Technician programme in TU Dublin.
“I can’t wait to discover what skills and knowledge I gain in the future working on so many varied projects with such an incredibly talented team. Every day’s a school day working with Metec!”
Over the last 3 years, I have obtained extensive experience the electrical services side of the business. I have already become an invaluable member of our drawing and design team and have worked on many of our largest projects across various sectors including office fitouts, residential, commercial, healthcare and education. I have enjoyed working on projects for many of our prestige clients such as Facebook, Google, KPMG, AIB, Wework, Primark, Dublin Airport Authority and Dropbox, to name but a few.
“It’s difficult to select particular standout projects from all the ones I’ve worked on as for me, I’m genuinely proud of the outcome of so many of them. Every job brings varying challenges and I find it extremely satisfying and rewarding working closely with talented engineers to come up with solution-based designs while maintaining focus on aesthetics and budgets.”
“One day I could be working on a lighting design drawing for a modern office fitout with a focus on aesthetic design while achieving correct lighting levels, such as the Horizon project on Stephens Green with its many feature areas such as double height lobby, a spiral staircase and an auditorium. The next, I could be designing a solution to provide desks with power and data requirements in an office building with no raised access floor available for services, such as the PWC project in Limerick. For me, both jobs are as rewarding as each other, just for different reasons”.
Outside of Metec, my interests are Music, Film and Cycling. I am obsessed with guitars and can often be found jamming along to my favourite albums in my free time.
I am also a keen mountain biker and can be spotted roaming the Dublin/Wicklow mountains on his weekend’s looking to discover my new favourite trail.
