After 22 years at MacArdle McSweeney Associates, where I began my career as a draughtsman and rose to the level of director, I joined Metec as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer in 2011, becoming a director and equal partner in 2014.
During my career I have gathered extensive experience in the design and delivery of large-scale building services installations in Ireland, the UK, Spain, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, and the Middle East – everything from commercial premises, offices, data centres and logistics facilities to hotels, third level institutions, religious centres and residential buildings – for clients including Northern Trust, Horizon Therapeutics, AIB, JLL, UCD, PwC, TCD and Twitter.
I love repurposing and retrofitting old building stock for modern use. A great example of this is our Cumberland House project for Twitter, where a building constructed in the 1970s without air-conditioning or raised access floors was transformed into a contemporary corporate office space with HVAC that achieved LEED Platinum accreditation.
I maintain the simple philosophy that Mechanical & Electrical Services are both the brain and arterial system within any building. Through improving technologies and effective systems integration, we can produce more user-friendly environments that have minimal impact on our planet.
